Transitional Supportive Housing

A Safe Place to Heal, Grow, and Rebuild

A Path to Move Forward

At Sisters In Christ, we believe every woman deserves a safe, supportive environment where she can begin again. Through our accredited transitional housing program, we provide women experiencing homelessness and those reentering the community after incarceration with the stability, resources, and support needed to build a brighter future.
Operating within Kansas City's urban core, Sisters In Christ manages three accredited transitional homes, including Serenity House and Carolyn's House of Faith. Together, these homes provide safe and stable housing for 50–60 women each year.
Our residences are accredited by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) and certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, ensuring that every participant receives care that meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and accountability.

Our Transitional Housing Journey

Serenity House

Step 1

Serenity House

The journey begins at Serenity House, where women spend their first 30–60 days in a nurturing, safe, and structured environment designed to promote healing and transformation.

During this phase, residents receive:

  • Safe and stable housing
Essential amenities and daily living support
  • Comprehensive medical assessments
  • Mental health evaluations
  • Substance use disorder screenings
  • Individualized treatment planning

The goal of Serenity House is to provide a strong foundation for recovery and personal growth while addressing each participant's unique needs and challenges.

Step 2

Carolyn's House of Faith

After completing the initial phase, participants transition to Carolyn's House of Faith, a sober living environment focused on responsibility, accountability, and long-term success.

This phase helps residents:

  • Strengthen healthy habits and routines
  • Build personal responsibility
  • Develop positive decision-making skills
  • Establish supportive peer relationships
  • Continue their recovery journey in a stable environment

Carolyn's House of Faith

If a participant experiences a relapse, she is encouraged to complete detoxification services and may return to Serenity House to restart the transitional process. This approach ensures continued support while reinforcing the tools necessary for lasting recovery.

Building Hope Through Community

Our housing program is more than a place to stay—it is a pathway to transformation. Through structured support, peer encouragement, and individualized care, women gain the confidence, life skills, and stability needed to achieve self-sufficiency and create lasting change in their lives.
At Sisters In Christ, we believe that healing happens in community, and every woman deserves the opportunity to reclaim her future with dignity, purpose, and hope.
